The Bryant family of London

My Bryant research (my paternal grandmother’s line) focuses on a family of saddlers and harness makers who operated for over 70 years out of Chapel Place Mews in Belgravia, London:  John Allistone Bryant, possibly born around 1776, his son George Curtis  born 25 December 1824, and his sons Arthur Allistone born around 1857 and Herbert Curtis (my great grandfather), born around 1859.

John Allistone married Susan Rose Curtis in 1808 – she had originally come from Brancaster in Norfolk.  George Curtis married Sarah Ann Backshell in 1855 – she had been born in East Grinstead, Sussex.

Along the way I have discovered asylum admissions for both George Curtis Bryant (admitted on 19 May 1876 to Bethnal Green Asylum where he subsequently died less than a month later) and his wife Sarah (admitted to the County Asylum at Haywards Heath, Sussex, on 14 June 1881, dying ten years later).

I would love to be able to trace my Bryant family further back!
